Who You Are

Thank you Father
for who You are.

You are not a god
who stands in the heavens
aloof and uncaring;
untouched as those you have created
battle each other and the enemy
alone and adrift on a wounded planet.

You are not a god that would
inflict harm or illness on those
you fashioned in your image.

You are not a god
sitting on a shelf
handmade and unable to interact.

You are not a god
made of wood or metal
placed in a temple
requiring sacrifice.

You are the God
who moves the heavens.
You are the God
who parts the waters.
You are the God
of passionate love.

You are the Father
that weeps when we weep!
That laughs when we laugh!

You are the Father
that walks us
through our battles
and forgives us when we fail.

You are the Daddy
that picks us up
washes us clean
kisses us and pats us on the back
with, “It’s OK.
You’ll do better next time!”
And whispers, “I know who you are!”

You are the Father
that calls us back
into alignment
That leads us back
to the straight path.

You are the God
of miracles and wonder!

And when it’s all said and done
You are the One
that welcomes us home.
With an embrace You say,
“Well done my son!”
“Well done my daughter!”

You inspire me to love You
You release me into joy
You walk with me through the storm
And You love me..

Everlasting is Your name
Peace is Your strength
You fill me with fire
And courage
And grace.

You pick me up
You wash me clean
You hold my hand
And You love me.
